Some say that her name originates from that of a Persian king named Darius, who was known to pitch his tent by a spring (ain in Arabic) to hunt on her grounds. Speculation aside, Ain Dara did witness a battle between the Qaysis and the Yemenis in 1711, with a victory that established the Chehabi rule for the next 150 years.
