Twinned with the town of Chelet in France to promote cultural and commercial ties, what still draws attention to Araya today is the now-abandoned Araya-Chouit train station positioned along the only railway line which used to cross the surrounding heights, stretching from Beirut to Damascus. One of the tunnels still welcomes visitors by car today.
