Dating back to the Crusades, Damour once made her living from mulberry groves and silk factories along the Mediterranean. Though the wounds of the immeasurable tragedy she suffered during the civil war still have not healed, the banana-growing Damour remains a seductress today, charming locals and tourists with her sandy beaches and water sports only a few kilometers away from Beirut.
