Once a sleepy fisherman’s village surrounded by banana plantations and citrus groves, Jounieh became a nightlife hub dominated by hotels, restaurants and bars in the 70s, when the civil war disturbed the nightlife in Beirut. Today, she is home to the Casino du Liban, a paragliding site and her famous gondola lift which takes visitors up the mountain to a famed shrine in Harissa.
