Characterized by a myriad of small streets, charming staircases and lush gardens, Mokhtara has been the stronghold of the politically-prominent Jumblatt family since the 17th century, housing the prestigious residence of political figure Walid Jumblatt, commonly known as Dar El Mokhtara. Two rivers meet in her valley, forming a remarkable place called Birket el Arous, which translates to “bride’s pond”.
